Mary J Blige – MasterCard – Priceless Surprises

Last month we went to London to film Mary J Blige as she left one lucky British fan speechless, as part of MasterCard’s Priceless Surprises campaign.Surprising her life-long fan Rana Otemro with a special live performance, the superstar singer flew into London to give her an exclusive gig.

Filming at Village Underground in Shoreditch we strung our point to point cable dolly to RSJs through the rafters and underslung our freefly movi m15. We filmed on a Canon C300 with a PL mount and used Red glass.

Rana admitted the experience was “the best moment of my life … Mary J Blige is my icon – her music is so honest and real,” she said. “Mary’s Priceless Surprise, in support of the 2015 Brit Awards, follows secret shows by Usher, Paloma Faith and the Kaiser Chiefs for their fans. Pharrell Williams, Laura Mvula, Kylie Minogue and Ne-Yo have also taken part in the campaign.

Our DJI Inspire with its 4K Camera is ready for hire.

We’ve just got DJI latest gadget: the gimballed DJI Inspire 1 ready to hire w/ operators now.

This fantastic filming quadcopter draws together the very best that DJI has done so far. When in flying mode the drone’s arms detract to remove the propellers and landing gear from view giving the gimballed 4K camera unrivalled and unrestricted 360-degree capabilities.

The UAV’s 4K camera has a 9 element lens that can shoot 30 fps at 4K and it supports Adobe DNG RAW. The entire system can be controlled by a single operator, however, with dual control a second “slave” controller can take control of the gimbal and camera to capture footage. Using Lightbridge the camera operator can view their footage in 720p from up to 2km away.

The DJI Inspire 1 has some other great features too. It boasts a Visual Positioning Sensor which allows the drone to be flown indoors (permissions pending, of course). It not only keeps the drone perfectly still without the aid of GPS signal, but it lets the drone know when its about to land as well, and it can take off and land itself all by the touch of a button.

Our MōVI M15 is Awesome.

We got our Freefly MōVI M15! And not a moment too soon either…

The latest camera stabilizer from Freefly – the Mōvi M15 – is a fantastic gimbal diesgned to hold payloads of up to 15 pounds (6.8kg).

The MōVI M15, like its slighter antecedents, is a stabilised brushless camera rig with Majestic Mode technology. This allows a solo operator to hold the camera rig and simultaneously manipulate pan and tilt movements.

The stabilizer also has a dual-operator mode allowing a second operator to control pan and tilt with DX7s remote (normally associated with the flight of model aeroplanes.

On its tod, the M15 weighs an impressively light five lbs (2.3 kg), and the full camera cage measures 200(l) x 200(w) x 160(h) mm. With a maximum payload of 15lbs (6.8kg) it's designed to hold cameras including the Sony F55, the Canon C300, and the ARRI Alexa Mini.
